Twelve (12) Resolutions to Make the Most of the Year 2024

By Ebens Theresias

To the one who is steadfast in their feelings, you grant peace, peace, because they trust in you (Isaiah 26:3).

Resolution #1:

If you are a Christian, within the first seven (7) days of the first week of January, designate a day or moment for personal fasting, consecration, and intimacy with your God, where you will present yourself to the Lord and allow Him to reveal to you the specific plan He has for you this year. Any year not consecrated to the Eternal is a wasted year in advance. Even if you don’t do it, satanists will do it against you by offering sacrifices to the devil at the expense of your health, destiny, and life. Remember that everything that manifests on Earth is first decided in the spiritual realm. If you truly want to succeed in your year, be wise: seek God!

Resolution #2:

By maintaining your decision to fast at least once a month (once each week would be best!), decide to make the Bible the compass of your life. Establish a personal program of daily reading and meditation. Let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit in the choice of texts. Read your Bible, meditate on it, and apply yourself to everything written in it… You will see how great your impact will be (Joshua 1:8). The Bible remains undeniably the most instructive book in terms of wisdom, a source of progress and success. Draw from it the wisdom you need for each resolution.

It is recommended to read texts about the life and mission of Jesus (the Gospels), the Epistles of Paul, Peter, and James, the great prophetic revelations (Isaiah, Jeremiah…), philosophical and wise texts (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes…), texts of Prayer, Praise, Battle, and Victory (Psalms), eschatological texts, particularly (Revelation) to understand the world and its destiny. In short, draw from the Bible the wisdom that should accompany each of your steps and actions in 2024. It’s wise!!!

Resolution #3:

For this year, propose a global vision with clear and defined objectives to achieve from all perspectives: spiritual, academic, social, and economic-financial… as well as a vision of personal fulfillment in terms of entertainment, leisure, and escape. The whole year should be considered a long journey with you as the traveler. Someone who travels without visions or objectives will go nowhere or land at a destination where it is possible not to find any anchor points. The final result will be nothing but SHIPWRECK. Set yourself landmarks! Anchoring before departure means setting yourself an OBJECTIVE or OBJECTIVES. Do not let your spiritual, academic, social, and economic-financial sails be swayed by circumstances.

It’s about your life! Plan, make projections… and strive to achieve them! If you don’t propose a vision with objectives to achieve, you won’t know at the end of the year if you have succeeded or not! Just having the breath of life at the end of the year is not a success in itself! A successful year begins with setting projects to accomplish, building sites to construct (no matter the field!), and seeing them on their feet, even halfway, by the end of the year. As they say, aim for the sun, if you don’t reach it, you will still reach a certain height.

Resolution #4:

Every day, fight like a lion. Be the King of the jungle. Face adversity. Work hard! Bring into your home the bread of sorrow and the fruits of honor to your children’s mouths. To reach your goals, work on yourself! The work to be done on yourself is more important than the work done with your hands. Be at the top of your discipline, propose challenges for yourself and try to meet them! Challenge yourself! Reject ease, laziness, and procrastination (proven enemies of any real success!). Remember every time that your efforts will make you strong. Your objectives will only be achieved through hard and permanent work. If you set objectives without working to achieve them, without disciplining yourself, without proposing a careful lifestyle that aligns with this vision, at the end of the year, you will reap only wind. However, the wind passes quickly and does not last!!! So, build your plan!

Resolution #5:

Work more on your character! What makes a man’s worth is his character. This is not about having a constantly furrowed brow evoking a martial air. No! Far from it! Your character is formed in the values you propose for yourself, by the norms you cling to: I do this, I don’t do that, I want this, I don’t want that, I admit this, I don’t admit that… This is the starting point for any work on character… Embrace the values of dignity, self-respect, respect for others, mutual help, truth, sincerity, faithfulness, loyalty, and honor. Do not negotiate principles. This is the foundation of your character. Be good to all, but cling, without sparing anything, to principles (including your faith!). These are what make you a Man, to paraphrase Fidel Castro.

Resolution #6:

Add to your quotient! Don’t settle for the barely sufficient! Motivate yourself further! Read books because books deliver! Watch series that educate and train you further. Listen to socio-cultural, economic, and spiritual broadcasts. Build yourself a solid rock both in body and mind. To maintain good physical, mental, and psychological health, practice sports. Participate in activities where you can meet people of value. Go to libraries, attend fairs, conferences, training seminars, academic genius activities, and workshops for reflection…

Listen to music that elevates the soul and spirit. Surround yourself with people who can positively influence you. Expand the space of your social tent. Build networks of friendship for needs. Because, in all needs, after God, human resources are the most essential. Have valuable people, professionals, and benefactors in your contact list. Go towards Beauty, Usefulness, and Pleasantness! Add value to your value (Metevalèsouvalèw), as my friend, Lemoineson Jean, would say.

Resolution #7:

Be aware of the value of Time! Of all the gifts life offers us, next to breath, the most precious is Time. Time does not wait, it passes quickly and does not return. This year, decide not to waste your time, manage it well! Look around you, evaluate everything that is not worthy of your time, and banish them. For example, moments of gossip and chatter, vain distractions on social networks or TV, time-wasting friendships (and their contributions) that add nothing in terms of value, learning, and knowledge, useless outings, indulgence in pleasurable and ridiculous activities, foolishness, prolonged and repeated sleep, useless dialogues and games… All those for whom you are only a source, and in whom you have nothing to gain, distance yourself from them. Because often, they are the most abusive and contagious. Spend time with those who believe in you, who know your worth, and who respect your time. They surely have something valuable to give you too. Don’t go towards those who discuss people and things (they are the mediocre, the average people), but go to those who discuss spirit and the sublime. They are the great ones, the people of value!!!

Resolution #8:

Strengthen your personal, family, and relationship circles! You will need time for yourself, to measure, indulge, and enjoy your solitude. But just as much, you will need your family and others. The principle of family is sacramental. If you want to truly impact, preserve your family! Because as a king, it is the first court in which you must be able to prove your goodness, authority, and power. It is your first training ground, your first testing place. If you cannot manage it well, you will not manage your business, colleagues, and employees well either. Pay attention to the time spent with your family. It’s crucial! Your presence is indispensable to rekindle the flames. No matter your rank: parent, son, or daughter, you must comfort yourself in your family. Just as you will need time for yourself to concentrate on reflection, meditation, and entertainment, you will need it even more to strengthen the foundation of your family in all respects. As for relationships, be selective! As mentioned above, some do not deserve your time. This year, make a distinction between those who know how to make the most of your time and those who waste it… However, remember that to accomplish everything, you will need a man or a woman. So, do not disdain relationships!

Resolution #9:

Choose difference, but do not be indifferent! Stand out as much as possible, but do not get comfortable in your difference! Sell a positive image of your potentials in everything. But maintain balance! Be master of yourself, temperate and gentle. However, reject conformity in all its forms, without defying acceptable norms and principles. Choose your brand, impose your style, influence by your values and way of being… However, do not fall into indifference or carelessness. Always tell yourself “I am concerned!” Get involved as deeply as possible if it must contribute to a positive change. Denounce evil, injustice, incongruity… Chase away ignorance, fight immorality, and opt for a better environment, a better world!!!

Resolution #11: Be Like the Eagle!

This resolution encourages us to emulate the eagle, a symbol of strength, vision, and height. The eagle is known for its ability to soar at great altitudes, see far, and live long. By drawing inspiration from this majestic bird, we are encouraged to:

  • Unravel Mysteries: Go beyond what is visible and understand deeper truths.
  • Aspire to the Supernatural: Seek a stronger connection with the divine, transcending earthly realities.
  • Change Your Perspective: See potential and opportunities in every situation, even when everything seems impossible.
  • Collaborate with God: Rely on faith to achieve extraordinary things.
  • Instruct Your Days: Let each day bring lessons and contribute to achieving our goals.

In summary, this invites us to rise above challenges, broaden our vision, and be bold in our achievements.

Resolution #12: Continuously Evaluate Yourself

This resolution emphasizes the importance of self-assessment and continuous improvement:

  • Focus on Essentials and Details: Consider both the big picture and specific elements in our evaluation.
  • Do Not Fear Mistakes: View mistakes as opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Strive for Perfection: Although perfection is unattainable, aspiring for it can push us to achieve our best potential.
  • Shape Yourself: Become the best version of yourself through hard work and continuous introspection.

The goal is to consistently work on personal development and growth, ensuring that we evolve and improve over time.

Resolution Conclusion:

Instead of making traditional New Year’s wishes that are often superficial, temporary, and meaningless, I encourage you, dear friends, to apply these principles. Come back to thank me at the end of the year if they have pleased you, or impose a hefty fine on me with a suspended sentence if they have disappointed you. Resolve yourself personally! For, as God Himself said in the Holy Scriptures: “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
