Phoenix, AZ — August 23, 2024 — In a surprising turn of events, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Independent presidential candidate, announced the suspension of his campaign during a nationally televised speech from Phoenix, Arizona. Despite halting his bid, Kennedy will remain on the ballot in most states where he has already qualified. However, he plans to withdraw his name from around 10 key battleground states, acknowledging that his continued candidacy could inadvertently play a spoiler role in the election.
In those states, I will remove my name and urge voters not to vote for me,” Kennedy declared, signaling a strategic shift in his campaign.
Kennedy cited several reasons for his decision, foremost among them being frustration over what he described as widespread censorship, media exclusion, and legal obstacles that hindered his ability to effectively reach voters. He also noted that many of his core issues, once unique to his platform, have now been embraced by former President Donald Trump.
“Last summer, it seemed no candidate was willing to negotiate a quick end to the Ukraine war, tackle the chronic disease epidemic, protect free speech, restore Constitutional freedoms, cleanse corporate influence from government, or resist the Neocon agenda of endless military adventurism,” Kennedy stated. “But now, one of the two candidates has adopted these issues as his own and has even asked me to join his administration to tackle them. I am speaking, of course, of Donald Trump.”
Kennedy also hinted at a potential collaboration with Trump, expressing his willingness to serve in a future Trump administration if elected.
He closed his speech with a call for national unity, urging Americans to overcome their divisions. “Ultimately, the only thing that will save our children and our country is if we choose to love them more than we hate each other,” he said.
Kennedy’s decision to suspend his campaign and endorse Trump is expected to have significant ramifications as the presidential race enters its final stretch.
