Delray Beach, Fla. (Clarity Times) — A Brightline high-speed train collided with a fire truck in downtown Delray Beach on Saturday morning, injuring three firefighters and 12 train passengers. The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m. near E. Atlantic Avenue and Railroad Avenue, leaving the train’s front end mangled and the fire truck’s ladder torn off.

“Three Delray Beach firefighters were transported to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition,” Delray Beach Fire Rescue reported. “Palm Beach County Fire Rescue transported 12 passengers with minor injuries.”

The area around E. Atlantic Avenue remains closed as Brightline officials, local police, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigate. The roadway will reopen once the cleanup is complete.

This adds to Brightline’s troubling safety record. Since its launch in 2017, it has had more than 100 fatalities, mostly involving pedestrians or drivers ignoring crossing gates. The NTSB is already investigating two earlier crashes at the same crossing this year.

Authorities urge caution around crossings as the investigation continues.
