New Orleans, Louisiana – January 1, 2025 (The Clarity Times)- A horrifying act of terror shattered New Year’s celebrations in New Orleans early Wednesday morning when a driver deliberately rammed a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street. At least 15 people were killed, and dozens more were injured in the deadly attack, which federal authorities are investigating as an “act of terrorism.”

The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, of Texas, was killed in a shootout with police. An Army veteran, Jabbar reportedly recorded videos declaring allegiance to ISIS before the attack. Investigators recovered an ISIS flag from the rented truck used in the rampage.

The attack occurred in the heart of the French Quarter, less than a mile from the Sugar Bowl venue, forcing the iconic college football game to be postponed for public safety.

Federal Investigation and Community Impact

The FBI has launched a massive investigation, including searches of locations in Houston linked to Jabbar. Law enforcement officials are working to determine if he acted alone or had accomplices.

Turo, the platform through which the suspect rented the truck, cooperates fully with investigators. President Joe Biden addressed the nation, urging calm while vowing justice for the victims.

Ochsner Health hospitals, treating many of the injured, have issued an urgent plea for blood donations as the city grapples with the aftermath of the attack.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and terrifying. “People were running and screaming—it was like a war zone,” said one bystander.

Nationwide Mourning

As the nation reels from the attack, the New Orleans community is mourning the loss of life while rallying to support victims and their families. Federal authorities are urging vigilance as investigations continue into the suspect’s motives and potential connections to other incidents.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
