Responding swiftly to reports of a man with a suspicious bag making alarming statements about a potential bomb around 5:30 p.m., the Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District took immediate action.
An urgent radio transmission from an official calling for terminal deputies highlighted the gravity of the situation. The individual was subsequently detained for questioning, leading to the precautionary evacuation while the BSO Bomb Squad investigated.
Outside the airport, traffic congestion ensued, causing delays for passengers trying to access the terminal. Inside, frustration mounted among travelers due to a lack of information during the evacuation, with concerns about potential flight delays.
