Port-au-Prince, January 12, 2025 – Prophane Victor, former Member of Parliament for Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite, has been arrested in a high-stakes operation conducted by the DCPJ in Pétion-Ville. Victor, long suspected of aiding and arming the notorious gang Gran Grif, faces charges of arms trafficking, gang financing, and corruption.
Authorities revealed that Victor played a critical role in the rise of Gran Grif, a gang responsible for kidnappings, sexual violence, and widespread terror in the Bas-Artibonite region. Former gang leader Odma directly accused Victor of supplying weapons and resources that helped establish the gang’s stronghold.
Following his arrest, police raided Victor’s residence in Vivy Mitchell, Pétion-Ville, in search of additional evidence. This comes months after international sanctions were imposed on him by the UN, Canada, and the United States for activities deemed a threat to Haiti’s stability.
While this arrest has brought relief to many Haitians tired of escalating violence, questions remain about the involvement of other political figures in Haiti’s insecurity crisis. Victor is currently in custody at the DCPJ, awaiting interrogation as the nation watches for the next steps in this high-profile case.
